Abstract The collection contains clippings about Hall's objectives and involvement in the tobacco industry. Other clippings pertain to issues in which Hall participated, such as foreign market development projects, protests about tobacco taxes, and a conference of Farm Credit directors. Also included are hearings on tobacco taxes for the Seventy-third Congress, second session (March 27, 1934); a personal statement by Hall as a member of the North Carolina Grange Tobacco Committee; and a campaign statement in support of the election of Robert W. Scott for governor.

Biographical noteClaude Tipp Hall (1895-1972), a native of Person County, N.C., participated in the development of many farm programs. He is best known for his activities in the credit field and the fluecured tobacco program in North Carolina. He was president of the Person County Farm Bureau, member of the County Board of Education, chairman of the Person Production and Marketing Administration Committee (later to become ASCS), and member of the State Grange Tobacco Committee.
